origins of the box

Ah, as I suspected the origins of the recipe box have been revealed.

The box was made by my Dad - as he says "your mother had a collection of cards and clippings and whether she asked to me to make a box for them, or I simply saw the need for one and made it. The hard part was getting the width right and then fitting the rest around it. Thinking back about it the wood is somewhat thick, but i did not have a
thickness planer. The finish could be better as it is only linseed oil (I think). I had some grand ideas to do some more work on it - maybe to cut into the top and put some wood inlays into it. "
